The Interact Club of Olentangy Liberty High School was officially chartered on Tuesday, October 23rd with an induction ceremony in the high school library.
The Interact club, sponsored by the Olentangy Rotary Club, was formed to fill the increasing need for service clubs in the school, and currently has close to 60 members. Interact is a service club for young people ages 14-18. Interact goals include developing leadership skills and personal integrity, demonstrating helpfulness and respect for others, understanding the value of individual responsibility and hard work and advancing international understanding and goodwill.
New Interact officers include Tim Stanfill, President; Jenna Dougherty, Vice President; Kaitie Beetner, Secretary; and Will Vickers, Treasurer.
Some of the projects the club has planned for the year include:
Interact is a Rotary sponsored, nonprofit, nonpolitical international service organization for high school aged youth. There are more than 10,700 clubs in more than 109 countries, with more than 200,000 members.
Rotary is an organization of business and professional leaders, united world wide who provide humanitarian service, and help to build goodwill and peace in the world. There are approximately 1.2 million Rotarians who are members of more than 31,000 Rotary clubs in 166 counties. www.rotary.org.
