MAP-IT PROJECT
CENTRAL OHIO COALITION
This is a wonderful, fun, project involving Rotary Clubs throughout the area. It takes only a half a day, (roughly), and you see the results of your work immediately.
Details
Olentangy Rotary volunteers meet Saturday morning, May 3rd, at about 8:30 AM to travel together to a local Columbus Public School. We clean off a section of playground area roughly 50 feet by 25 feet. Then we transfer, via a grid, the outline of the United States including Alaska and Hawaii to the prepped playground. Separated into groups, each group then transfers the outlines of the states in their assigned territory to the large map. The last step is to paint the outlines of the US and State lines with white paint using narrow rollers.
Last year the Principle of the School and some students assisted. It was clear they appreciated the work by the smiles on their faces. And as a matter of fact, it was so good as to make Monet proud.
Sign up for this rewarding and fun project; the more the merrier.
Map It Project
Olentangy Rotary Club members participated in the May 8, 2004 Map It project by re-painting the United States map on the playground of Chapman Elementary on Sawmill Road. Members participating included coordinator Dick Corson assisted by President Tami Kuhlmann, President Elect Joe Schaefer, Sue Jones and granddaughter Emily along with Past President Bryan Cochran. Dick Corson’s engineering background came into play as he provided a template, which made the project much easier to complete!!!
